At a seemingly abandoned train station, two old lovers share a dreamlike moment of reconciliation, one fraught with pain, regret, and love.

Narrative has always been a goal of ours. And in the deep cold of January 2024, on the outskirts of Berlin, a group of people came together to help realize that dream of ours. Starring Richard Sammel and Alex Brendemühl, Close Encounters is a short film that explores long-lost love and reconciliation.

At a train station on the outskirts of Berlin, David waits alone. He’s an older man, mid-sixties, withdrawn and stubborn. He’s soon joined by Liam, a lover from his past. The two haven’t spoken in over 20 years, and their meeting is a painful one. But as the day stretches on, and time stands still, the warmth of their shared past comes to the fore.

With a crew of talented individuals, and a cast of gifted actors, Close Encounters has been a remarkable foray into the world of fiction for us. Debuting at the St. Louis International Film Festival in 2024, we hope to share this project with more and more people as time goes by.
