Hi Zooliners,
The great Groucho Marx once said, “I find television very educating. Every time somebody turns it on, I go into the other room and read a book.” While we can’t promise that our first blog will be as insightful as Groucho Marx (or indeed as funny), we hope that your short break from your latest binge-watch will be, at the very least, educational.
Here’s the story: Zoo is changing. You’ll notice that this blog isn’t the only Zoo Kid On the Block. We now have a shiny new website and, perhaps most importantly, it bears a new name. Why? Well, after years of going by the name Zoo Agency and, uhm, not really being an agency, we’ve decided to reflect that reality.
Visibility is one of our goals for the year - for our projects and for our team. That’s why our new website prioritises our work and shows it off in a more engaging way than before. At long last you can finally see what we're really up to, whether that’s filming an event in Tokyo or documenting a Nobel Laureate in their U.S. home. From now on, we want to make the visual energy we capture more tangible for our audience. Hey, that’s you!
Our external transformation is a product of years of internal development. When we first launched Zoo Agency back in 2016, our young team longed to flip the advertising world on its head. We wanted to prove that high-quality campaigns were possible even when resources were limited and, let's be honest, frustrate some established agencies along the way. The good news is we succeeded in both. The bad news is that it didn't make us happy. In the long run, toothpaste advertising can’t clean the soul.
Over the years, we've become more thematically-driven and realised that our hearts beat louder with a documentary-style project than a drumroll commercial. In short: We want to tell stories. We want to tell stories that have depth and power; that inspire us to question or emulate; that are brave enough to challenge the status quo. We can’t always wait around for these stories to materialise, so there's one other new development at Zoo:
Zoo Productions is the home of creatives who never miss an opportunity to tell stories. Can we find new tales in a world where seemingly everything has already been done? Of course! No risk, no story.
Whether we’re rethinking for our clients or developing projects together as a team, we inject our professionalism and creativity into everything we do. But above all, we want it to challenge, surprise and inspire. Whether it's fiction, non-fiction or an innovative campaign, as a production company we will continue to develop projects from that first cautious (maybe slightly crazy) concept to the glistening finished film.
So, dear readers, we thank you for your time and look forward to sharing more in the months to come. We hope you’re as excited for the future as we are.
Greetings from on top,
Zoo Kid On The Blog
